Hi! I think my birdies have gapeworm and, being organic I'm not sure what to do. The chickens will constantly shake their heads and don't seem to have other respiratory issues so gapeworm is right where my head went- I attached a video of the chickens below. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Welcome to BYC. Your video did not show up. You will need to upload your video to YouTube and post a link here. How old are your chickens? Have you added any new birds recently? Can you add your location to your profile?

Videos need to be uploaded to youtube or other vid platform then linked here.
Gapeworm is pretty rare, lots of other things can make them shake their heads
Would be good to provide this info:

Also....Welcome to BYC! @Iriss Crazy Coop
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

I don’t see anything out of the ordinary, but will look again later. Head shaking can be normal if they get dust in there nares or something in the beak. Sometimes when they adjust their crops it can resemble gapeworms. My young pullets would do the head shake often as feathers grew in. Gapeworm usually causes severe gasping and gaping, and the worm larvae would show up with a fecal test if you want to get some droppings checked by your vet. I would also look them over for lice or mites, and look for anthing around their ears.

I see normal chicken behavior in that video. If you want to check them for worms, you can collect samples for a few days and send in to your vet to have them checked for gapeworm eggs. Since you are organic, there's not much you can do for them if they are positive though. Some people feed pumpkin seeds as a chicken dewormer. I don't think it will work, but it MAY decrease populations. Emphasis on may. Some people swear by it.
