I think my silkie got pecked by a rooster 😔

Last night my husband went out to check on the chickens before bed as he always does. When he went up to the run he saw that one of the silkies was sitting all alone outside in the cold. When he got closer he noticed there was a wound on top of her head, we didn’t realize how bad it was until he got her inside. Almost all of her feathers in her head are gone and the skin is ripped up. Today I almost can’t tell if there is still a layer of skin or if it is exposed bone.
I treated the wound with triple antibiotic last night and today I applied blu-kote to it. I am wondering if there is anything else I should/can do for her?

sorry for the circumstances. Chickens can recover from scalping, but it takes time as the wound heals from the outside inwards. I would continue applying the antibiotic ointment.

Thank you for responding. This is my little girls’ favorite chicken. She follows them around and “talks” to them when they’re with her so they are taking it very hard and I’m hoping she will heal. I just feel so sad it happened. This is our first flock and first injury we are dealing with so I want to make sure I’m doing everything I can.
