I really believe thats because she needs to pass the rest of the egg, How did the warm soak go? Did she pass any more after that?

The warm soak massaging sounds like the best bet!

I couldn't find any info. in my Chicken Health Handbook that would be beneficial to you, so here's hoping the warm soak massage works.

I'd get her in there anyway just make sure the water isn't too deep just enough to come up to her belly and massage it going towards the vent. My pullet did the same thing until she passed the rest of the egg then it was like she had never had that episode.

They will go into that deep breathing thing if they are in distress. She sounds like she needs to expel the rest of the egg. Go get her in a bath, do a chest massage as suggested, then check back later.

Have you inserted your finger gently into her vent? I have had this happen with mine when they first started laying. Each time I had to "feel around" inside the vent until I located the soft shell, then gently work it out to where I could get ahold of it. Then I would gently tug - the hens begin pushing, so I tug with each push until I get it out.

I did this while soaking them in warm water. I have done it numerous times, and it always worked. I hope you will have the same luck. I've only found soft shells, so I don't know what to tell you if it's a broken hard shell. But I do suggest if the warm soak does not work, gently insert your finger and see if you can find anything.

okay i just got her out of the bath she liked being in the water but she hated me touching her underside massaging it. she let out 3 big poos which im happy about. ive got her in darkness under a blanket she still wont sit down though and she wouldnt sit in the water she was real tense shes not doing the choking thing anymore.
