Oh, I see now. I looked at some hatchery websites. They all look really different. I was really excited with mine because she was really dark and I thought she might be a true Rhode Island Red, but once she got older she looked like a production. She is really red looking.

Was she actually bought as a production red? Her coloring looks more like a comet r one of those other weird hybrids. She could be a production red, but t is hard to tell.

I think this is a good answer. The PR I've seen are a little darker, with more black in tail. This hen seems to be either solid or almost solid light brown color.. don't see that too often. Different enough to be 'believable' to be either a less common sex link using different breed(s) or possibly a production red bred with another breed...

Not all are super dark.
A red sexlink I believe has more black on its taik,or dark brown.
