I think these are mites!! Please help!!

I just saw this on my Buff Orpington hen (She is almost two years old) a few minuets ago, I don't really know what it is but I think they are mite eggs Or ****Lice****. (Now I know that it is lice) They are located on her fluff feathers. Sorry I couldn't get pics but this is what it looks like.

I have been dusting her with Seven as I was told to do, but its not helping. I thought it was until I saw Brown Oily stuff around her oil gland.

Is this a problem with her Oil Gland? Its really grossing me out,

and I really wan't to get rid of it. Please help me.

Looks like nits (lice eggs) to me.

You have to do more than dust the bird, the birds entire environment needs a dusting and that dusting must be repeated until there are no more lice. You have to look for the lice. The nits will remain on the shaft for quite some time. Read the dusting instructions for lice on the pesticide package.

If the lice continue to show you'll need to change the pesticide you use and re dust.

Try using an Ivomectin product, like Eprinex. It is a wormer for cattle and other livestock, and will kill internal and external parasites. I use 4 drops of the pour on type on my large fowl, and 2 drops on my Silkies. Put the drops on the skin on the back of the neck, and/or under the wings. Suck some of the wormer out of the large bottle with a syringe, and place it in a glass bottle with an eye dropper. Easier to use this way. If you get some on you, make sure to wash it off as soon as possible. Needless to say, you will have to clean out the whole coop, and clean all roosts/perches, top and bottom with either Neem oil solution, or you can try Adams Flea and Tick killer for dogs. Make sure to pay special attention to ALL cracks and crevices!

Thank you! Where can I can get Eprinex? A feed store? I'll clean the coop as soon as possible. Do I put Eprinex directly on the birds skin? Or dilute it with water first? Sorry for all the questions.

Eprinex will kill cattle lice as intended because cattle lice suck blood. Chicken lice do NOT suck blood and eprinex is ineffective against chicken lice but it will kill mites. SilkiesForEver you are dealing with chicken lice as evidenced by the egg cluster. Others have used coconut oil purchased from health food stores to dissolve the egg clusters and remove them. Sevin dust will kill lice and birds will need to be redusted in 7-10 days to kill nits hatched from eggs. The coop, nests, and roosts will need to be dusted in the same manner to end their lifecycle.

Thank you very much! We have coconut oil so I will put that on right away! It also looks like her tail feathers have been chewed on because some of them are broken; And I still don't know what the brown oily stuff is around her oil gland.

Is it dirt or did the lice do that? I'm sorry, this is the first time I've had a parasite problem. I have no idea what to do.

I used a Garden and Poultry dust with the active ingredient Permethrin. I got it TSC. I have a D'Uccle Mille Fleur with SEVERE case of lice. And it worked well on her. I noticed a difference the first day or two.

EDIT!: IT WAS POULTRY LICE. NOT MITES. xD

I too am having a first time parasite problem. I have tried the Garden & Poultry dust for a couple of weeks. I have been putting it on every few days and cleaning the bedding about once a week since I noticed that I have mites (I think thats what they are). They are only on my silkies, not my smooth feathered birds in the same coop. I haven't noticed a big improvement with the Garden & Poultry dust. I plan on getting some Sevin Dust tomorrow and trying that.
