I think this is going to be a Charlie...5 wk NHR

Talked to the lady down the way with chickens, she is going to come over and walk me thru my first cull middle of May.

I think I'll know for sure by now on the rest of them as well.

Thanks everyone for your input and support. This BYC forum rocks my socks.

FYI I'm in Kansas

Maybe you should read all the post and see I was not jumping on the OP for anything... and that we exchanged a couple friendly posts before you jumped on me. I didn't realize that suggesting an alternative to killing an animal was offensive, LOL - my bad.

I think your assuming 'culling' means killing here. 'Culling' is a term used to mean the animal is being removed from a breeding program. 'Being removed' can lead to many things, but don't assume right away it means to kill the animal.

I worked for a division of Tyson for many years, when we culled, we removed the unwanted birds from the wanted birds then shipped the unwanted off to become someone's food. But we wouldn't 'kill' them.

There are many stories of the best pet chickens being culled chickens. The culls were not good for the breeding program, but were great companions. Then there are those culls that go great on the grill and BBQ sauce

It looks like a Charlie, just because of the huge comb. But then again, one teacher in my school hatched chicks last year, and her 4-5 wk olds had combs twice that. But I don't know if they turned out to be roos or hens.

Maybe a Cinnamon.

That's M-A-Y-B-E. Don't get your hopes up (or down) just yet.
