then I won a chicken contest and so I'll have

4 Black Copper Marans
3 Double-Laced Barnevelders
2 Silver Cuckoo Marans.

coming in next week. Our first flock of 5 (2 Barred Rock, 2 Tetras and a RIR) just graduated to the outside coop/run so at least the brooder box is ready for them.

You all weren't lying about chicken math. Now we must begin coop expansion.

Haha! Aint that the truth. I had a feeling when I entered the contest that I would win, and I did. I'm excited for chocolate eggs. My first little flock isn't even laying yet. I wonder if I'll have issues introducing them to each other in a few weeks.

9 is an odd number...10, 12, 14...something like that is way better!! I think u should go get some so that u have an even number. Odd is just odd!

9 + my previous flock of 5 = 14 But we have decided that we will re-home 4 of them for an even 10. We know a guy who keeps bees and has a coop but no chickens. So I will raise the babies and then have a very tough decision to make but will be rewarded with local honey as a trade.
