I thought they were safe at this age :(

I am so sorry for your loss. If they were squished, I would say that they got cold and piled. Are they alone, or with larger birds?

Losing babies is just so hard.

with larger birds

should i have not done that?

It's strange, I've seen several posts in the past week about larger birds squishing the smaller ones. If not for that, I wouldn't have thought anything of it. But, at 6 weeks old, I can see the older chickens jumping around and accidentally landing on one.

but the thing is (really hard to explain the situation of our coop

) there is an area (the area they were squished in) that the larger girls would really have to squeeze to get there..

I went to let out my girls this morning, and there were two dead chicks laying there. They were squished by the others, now here i was thinking they were safe at this age from getting squished. It didn't even get that cold last night.
One of my americana and my precious Milles fleur were killed.

I'm so sorry. :( That's so sad. I've lost 4 to pretty much the same thing.
