I am so sorry for your loss. If they were squished, I would say that they got cold and piled. Are they alone, or with larger birds?

It's strange, I've seen several posts in the past week about larger birds squishing the smaller ones. If not for that, I wouldn't have thought anything of it. But, at 6 weeks old, I can see the older chickens jumping around and accidentally landing on one.
It was just a thought. I was trying to figure out how little ones could squish each other.
I went to let out my girls this morning, and there were two dead chicks laying there. They were squished by the others, now here i was thinking they were safe at this age from getting squished. It didn't even get that cold last night.
One of my americana and my precious Milles fleur were killed.![]()
ETA- They are 6 weeks old.
