I thought/think she is egg bound- she died.

hmmm it does sound familiar though I've read some threads that sound like they have the same systems as your chicken. let me see if I can find any. and if her vent doesn't red and puffy or white and crusty, I wouldnb't put the anti-fungal on it. but I would feed her scrambled eggs. they are very good for sick chickens. and yogert help too. be carful what you feed a chicken, some things are poisonis to them.

Im so crazy about feeding them bad things it never occurred to me that avocado wouldnt be good for them (insert shame here). What about this, my husband threw a bag of moldy cheese shreds in the compost pile and they were eating them like two days ago until i shushed them out. could it be that? I dont really think so because there were like 6 of them going to town on the pile and everyone else is a-ok. Could she just be having an upset stomach? Idontknow....it just seemed weird to me that she wanted to stand in the box thats why i thought she had an egg in there.

moldy food isn't good for them ether. it really sound's like the early stages of moniliasis (most people call it vent gleet) it's caused by eating moldy things. I would follow the instructions I gave you in the earlier post to clear it up. and go ahead and put the garlic in all of your chickens water just to make sure your other chickens don't get sick too. I had one of my chickens get this before and sadly I was gone for a few days and forgot about treating her and she died because her vent got blocked... :'( o and I forgot to mention that by putting Epsom salt in her water first for one day, it flushes out her system. THEN put the garlic in there until she gets better.

it says to put 1 lb Epsom Salt per 5 gallons water. I'm not very good at math so you're gonna have to figure out how to divide that depending on what you put the water in... I think a few hand fulls will do. but I do know how much garlic to use. 1/4 teaspoon per half gallon of water for the garlic.

I sincerely doubt a few pieces of moldy cheese are the problem... I suspect you are right in thinking internal layer... If you have antibiotics give them to her, and hope for the best. I had one with these symptoms- kept her alive for a couple weeks, but she didn't make it. I think I waited too late with the antibiotics. I hope you have better luck! Keep us posted.

do you think it would be best to give the rest of them the epsom water also for a day then do the garlic?
thank you so much also! i feel silly now, oh no- no mold, duh except for that cheese!
