I thought/think she is egg bound- she died.

I bought the duramycin at tsc, as im sure you guys know it only lists the dosage for two different things, should i go higher? then i read dont eat her eggs for 3 weeks.

Well i just put the medicated water in she took 2 drinks then pooped. its really watery/snotty. dark green pencil poop with some red mixed in. this just doesnt seem like its going to get better. how can i make her drink the dang water? shes standing on one foot now. is she in pain? should we cull her? should i sit her in water again even if i cant feel an egg anywhere? i feel stupid and helpless right now with her.

How are things this a.m.?

I know how frustrating it is diagnosing and treating a sick chicken. You really have to become your own vet, and at times you feel so helpless. Thank goodness there are so many people on this website willing to offer their advice. I've had some success stories and some sad endings... about 50/50 I'd say. I wish there was a vet in my area willing to do something other than euthanize.

As far as finding information on safe food for poultry, there are many great threads on this site. I'm sure your girl will be OK from that little bit of avacado you gave her... mine have all survived rhubarb poisoning.

How is she this morning? I hold a little bowl with water up to their beaks and tip it a little...usually if they get a drop or two on their beaks they will drink it down. Just keep trying and hope for the best...Do you have any yogurt? She might like that. Good luck!

So this am i feed her some oatmeal soaked in the antibiotics with a crushed tums also, she ate a bit and had some water. went to work came home shes still alive! her "poop" was pretty much watery but yellow, im thinking from the yellow tums and the antibiotics. no red in it though, so maybe thats good. husband is bringing home penicillin, he found the dosage and what we can use for a chicken at pbs animal health. not looking foward to holding her while he administers as he read they will act like they are being killed when you do it.
my vet sees all animals as i had called and made an appointment before we found medicine. its 31 bucks for an office visit and i imagine he would have just give me the same thing. so i will let you know what happens after we give her the shot. fingers crossed!
also it seemed like she would only eat or drink if it was right at her mouth so i put the food and water on a step stool thats right at her height and she seemed to like that.
