Hatcheries charge more to sex chicks for you, why not a breeder? It makes sense to me.

It would be fine and normal to charge more for pullets but to pretend to be doing something special by "sexing" them is wrong. He should be explaining the difference to his customers so they know. Tractor Supply often gets in "straight run sex-links" and I have always wondered why.

Sex links are only about 90% sexed by color so there will be some white ones that are hens and some reds that will be roosters. So if they sell them as pullets and one turns out to be a rooster they will owe you a pullet if you bring it back. If you buy from the straight run table there's no bringing anything back.

You pay for knowledge. It happens all the time in many different venues. Every time you get your car worked on or buy a computer or make dinner- anything really. The more educated you are on something, generally you can do it cheaper. It pays to do your research. A lot of people don't bother.
