--this aft i was playing in the raised garden beds behind the 2 chicken coops---after a bit , i heard my buff orp hen raising a ruckus in the dog kennel where she and her only chick have been living- {chick is a rode island red from a egg she adopted and hatched } turnning the corner i see buttercup all ruffled up and growling ,and squaking at the poor chick in front of her---the little one was standing , just like a 2 yr old getting a good scolding, head down and turned to the side---after a few seconds all was forgiven and back to normal---i went in ,got a beer and sat down on the deck steps watching mom an littlechick interact together--awsome--truely God inspired motherly love tween his critters--this was also a first for me cause this was also my first ever hatched chick---i sat and watched as she would pick certain pieces of treat out of her dish and give to the chick---what were the choices pieces of grass to eat---how to cratch dirt , and eat a worm given to her by mom ,,that chick never was more than 6 inches away from mom,and i guess when the chick pleased her ,buttercup wagged her tail side to side just like a dog would--- first time i had ever seen any of my chicken do that -i was living the a true kodack moment------i learned a lot about chickens in that 45 minutes-----made me think more---and reminded me to slow down---just because i'am in the atumn of my life and trying to get thing done ---there's still a lot of flowers out there that need smelling
I had a physical this week. All appears to be fine. When the doctor asked if I had any problems, I complained that by the end of each day I was very tired.
He asked that I recount a normal day's activities for him. I did so. His reply: "I have the solution to your problem. Sleep later and do less each day. You are no longer 25. You'll be 70 this year." I think that I need to stop and smell the flowers. My hobby is escalating to the point where it is becoming a JOB. One that costs me money.
I have learned alot watching my chickens.I find them very relaxing and entertaining.Their personalities are wonderful.I spent off and on about 2 hrs today watching my older and baby chicks.I love them
I loved reading that. That's one of my favorite pastimes: watching the chickens, especially the mommas with their babies!
My BP has lowered since I started keeping chickens and my physician lowered the prescription on my meds. I think that's a MAJOR score beyond what I thought I would gain from my chickens!
