but they were having none of it.
It has just started to sleet. The chickens were going stir crazy in the coop. I opened the door just a crack and told the chooks about the bad weather.
They didn't want to hear it. They are out running around in this nasty weather.
Bunch of bird brains.

Hah! I tried to talk mine into leaving to coop to get their OWN food and water today so I could stay in and not have to go out in 2° weather. I even offered to give them a key to the garage! But do you think those lazy things had any thought for my wellbeing? Of course not.

Lazy chickens.

Yep, my rooster was walking around with icicles hanging off his tailfeathers last winter. Do you think they learned something from that experience? Of course not!

Mine were crowded at the door and ready to come out when the door opened. It did, they looked and started to back up and squawk, "Bring our morning treats in here!" Doors are wide open and not a head poked out yet. Think they remember the Xmas day storm too well.

I'll know by tomorrow morning. We are supposed to get slammed according to the latest updates. 12"-14" and that is a heap of snow for E Tennessee. Mine troop right out into a 2" snowfall some time ago, mid Dec. I doubt they will this time, or at least not right away. If I leave the pop door open, likely some will try it. They may just hang out under the coop in the dust bath.

That's where mine go; under the coop. I'll walk out there and not see a single chicken and then the dirt under the coop starts moving.

My girls love the great outdoors also. They roost in their run most of the time instead of the coop. This week I started making/putting them in the coop due to the 7"-10" of predicted snowfall and lows in the low teens that we have coming. They are not very happy with me right now, but that's tough. I feel that it would be neglect if I didn't get them out of inclement/cold weather. Besides I couldn't sleep if they were out there in that kind of cold.

Mine came out and ran around in the freezing rain no problem-o

The the little stinging balls of ice (sleet) started falling and everyone ran for cover under the porch!!
No one has come out to see that those stinging balls of fire, I mean, balls of ice are no longer falling.....
