...when up pops this hen pheasant right in front of me! Startled the heck out of me. Sure enough, I look down at the grass where she was, and there is a nest with one egg in it. The front yard is not fenced. People's dogs are through all the time, plus, I don't think the neighbors would appreciate me not mowing for a few weeks.
Why couldn't she have chosen the back yard? or under one of out bushes? That egg is not going to be hatched by momma hen. Breakfast? or should I try to give it to my silkies? I don't even know how many days to incubate a pheasant egg. Guess I'll have to look that up.
