I WANT DUCKS!- Total Newbie *EDIT GOT SOME DUCKLINGS!Yay!*

Feed them all duck feed. I have heard that medicated feed is bad for ducks. Duckling feed shouldn't hurt the chicks. Khaki Campbells are rather small ducks that are egg-laying machines. I think they can fly though. Tame them now while they're babies.

I'll just keep them separated for now. I have a whole 50lb bag of medicated I need to use up, so I mid as well just do that.

I was told they don't fly, that's why I got them, if they do that would be a bummer.

The only BIG issue with keeping ducklings and chicks together in the same brooder is the ducks grow SO much faster. Before a week is up, you'll see the duckies' webbed feet stomp all over little bitty chickies.

For that reason, I separated mine, but kept them in the same large brooder for two more weeks. I used a hardware cloth divider so they could all see each other, and interact, but not get harmed. After 2 weeks, the ducklings needed far more room, so I put them in a separate brooder of their own.

My bathroom is very full. 4 chicks in one brooder, 2 ducklings in another.

I may have missed this, but in the discussion of using chick feed, did anyone mention that ducklings need about three times the niacin as chicks? Niacin deficiency can be quite harmful. I see you were planning to give the ducklings another feed. Good. I would make sure that the niacin levels are appropriate for the little ducklings.

Iam using a Game starter for them...does that usually have the right amount of Niacin? It has a duck on the bag lol.
