I have a rir that is about 5/6 months old and was wondering when I could expect her to start laying.. I also have 3 bantam hens and was curious if they should start laying soon or if they lay around a certain season.. Ive heard both..Thanks for all the feed back in advance!!

How many weeks is your RIR, and are you sure she's a hen? RIRs are very much a production breed and usually begin laying before a lot of other breeds, but that's not always a rule. I think 20 weeks is average. My RIR laid her first egg at 19.5 weeks old. What breed are your bantams? I think you need to look at breed, not just the fact they're bantams. HTH!
