I want four hens. Should I start with two or four pullets?

Sorry if you said this and I didn't pick up on it, are you getting chicks or pullets or hens?
Hi Devora. I'm thinking pullets or hens. I'd rather not have birds indoors and on heat. I hope for winter producers.

From one, organic breeder I can get Buff Orpington (12 weeks) Barred Rock and Columbian Wyandottes (6 weeks).

From another I may be able to get Salmon Faverolles, ISA x Americaunas, Buff Orpington, Wyandotte, and Cochin. I am checking on ages.

Ahah, sounds like you have an excellent selection. I agree w/ the others who said get 'em all from the same place.

And get four! No, five! Six! Oh, help me, Chicken Math has taken over my keyboard!!

I'm going tomorrow to get Buff Orpington (12 weeks) Barred Rock and Columbian Wyandottes (6 weeks). That's three pullets from the same breeder. I want four so I'm not sure which breed I'll get two of. Wish me luck!
