I want some snowy mallards ???

I have been trying to decide on what kind of new ducks to get I currently have 4 mallards and want some more I was thinking about some snowy mallards but want to know if the are similar to my regular mallards other than color as far as temperament and stuff like that I am wanting to breed next year and was wondering about breeding ducks from the same hatchery will it be ok or do I need to get some from another hatchery for breeding pouposes if so where the only place I can find them is ideal any help would be great if you could post pics of your snowy mallards I would love to see the variations in color thanks

if anything, my snowys are more calm and chilled than my regular mallards. They are around the same size, just different colors. I got mine from IDEAL, and breed them from ones i got from ideal, and no problems what so ever. I was trying to upload a pic, but our DSL is being slowish today

Thanks for the info I would love to see some pics of your ducks if you can get them to load. I just checked the ideal website and they are sold out for this year bummer!!! Dose anybody know of another place I can get snowy mallards this year

I have ordered snowy mallards a couple times from Ideal this year and out of 9 ordered only 2 arrived alive. I am now down to one since my dog killed one

I plan on finding some hatching eggs and hatching out my own next time.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck did ideal make it right if so was it no questions or did they make you jump through hoops I have herd ideal sometimes doesn't have the most hardy birds but they do a good job of making it right

thanks for all the good info. I was just curious dose anybody have any silver appleyards i have been thinking about them bc snowy mallards are nolonger avaliable this year and i can still order silver appleyards this year from holderreads and everybody says they have excellent quality birds. just wanted to see what the breed is like and to see what kind of experience everyone has had with holderreads THANKS

Mallardman,

You do realize that snowy mallards might not be considered wild and if you have to release them, it might be against the law. Also, I read many sources that stated snowy mallards do not survive well in the wild. Be prepared to clip their wings if you are getting them in case they fly away. Just something to keep in mind since there are too many domestic ducks wandering around.
