I want them now!!

I think i will put a normal sized feeder and waterer in once they reach 2-3 weeks or so... (depends on how big)

And im starting them off in a plastic storage box, and then a bigger box and then the whole stall. Im hanging the heat lamp from a bored up in the roof of the stall.. The horse door have about a foot of spaced underneath of it that will be covered with hardware cloth and concrete blocks... I think i will use an old wooden ladder for a roost... so yeah! Im worried about integrating them with my rooster.. my hen is the sweetest thing.. she will be fine.. But he is a jerk!

That sounds a lot like the set up I will have but for the roosts I found about seven wooden dowels in our garage so I figure I might as well use them. I have never had problems introducing new chicks to my rooster - he's huge but hes a sweety, but I don't know what yours would do... Good luck with everthing

I cant decide.. I know some Silver Laced wyandottes.. perhaps some RIR? Any reccomends?

go to: www.mypetchicken.com and do the breed selector..it helps narrow down what you want..
then make sure they tolerate confinement well if they are NOT free ranging..(I had to change my order b'cuz one wasnt confiement tolerant that much)..
Then research on noise levels too; since I do have neighbors in the area; I ended up getting quieter birds..

GL!
have fun!
PS-- I ordered from welp hatchery . com and their CS was sUPERB!!!

What is the selection like at your local feed store? You'd said your getting them from there.

Ours is slim pickings for breed type but have to say black stars are attractive, docile yet hardy and excellent layers. My Black Star is out laying both size and quantity the RIR's, Red Star and ofcourse the BR.

As for the near needy in friendliness award, that goes to the barred rock, Pot Pie. Who btw was first to lay and as a pullet was giving 6 eggs a week though medium in size.
