Hi, this is my second post not only here but also in any forum. Pardon me if do something stupid and for my not really native English.
I am relatively new for chickens. I had few bird for couple of years few years ago and had to give them away.
Now I leave in right zoning and could ligally have as many chickens as i want. Recently I decided to cross my silkies with Cochin to have standart broody breed. None of my cochins want to sit but Barred sitting for few days and then relocate to another nest. This happend already few time - we lost a lot of eggs. I 've heard that silkis are great broody and bought pair of young black silkies. I have cochin pair too. i do not know for how long i have to keep hens isolated t(alone) o make sure that they are not fertile, how long i have to keep them together. Is it enough if I see rooster fertilizing her once. All sort of quistions. I just want to have big bird which look like silkies and would be 100% broody.
Thank you
Francheska
