I want to get quail but I have cats. What should I do?

yeah i have 3 cats. 1 of them was near their box for 10 minutes, luckily it was closed because she turned it on its side. my other two cats have been left alone in the room with the brooder without anything on top of it and maintained a respectful distance just watching them

I have 16 cats and they get along fine. Just as long as you keep them in a decent size cage (mine are in a ferret cage) they should be fine. The 3 i have are in my bedroom and i have a permenant cat in there . She doesnt bother them at all

Cats and quail do not mix. You either keep one or the other.

I strongly disagree. I have coturnix and cats. It can be done, you just need to keep them separate. When I am brooding new hatches I keep them in the house in rooms shut off from the cats, and you have to be very careful to keep them separate during that time, it would be one bite. As adults they are in rabbit and guinea pig cages in a shed outside, where the cats don't go. (but if they did, the cages are too sturdy for the cats to get into.)

My cats both live outside. I would probably keep the quail outside (once they are older) and build a rabbit-hutch-sized raised cage.
