I am a floral designer at Michaels in Vista, Ca. This is the first time I have had Chickens. We started with three in August of 2011. They were about a week old when we got them. Named them Dixie, Charlotte and Penny. Charlotte turned out to be a Charlie so we found him another home. Then in December of 2011 we got 5 more1 week olds from the local feed store. They have a mini coop placed inside the chicken run and are seperated from Dixie and Penny. The first two just started laying everyday in early February! How exciting that is!!!! Oh, I forgot to say the newbies are named, Lucy, Ethel, Savannah,Daisy Mae,and Layla.
I also have a Husband and three children who are 31, 30 and 24. We live on almost 4 acres in a big 3600 square foot home. My husband is out of work right now and I hope that changes soon!
Our other children are 3 Yorkies who rule this roost. They are named Cooper,(we call him mini coop since he is a tiny boy of 4 pounds, Dusty and Zoie.
Working, taking care of the property, chickens, kids and the yorkies can be very hard at times. But just when it gets too hard I take the time to thank the Lord Jesus for blessings me with all these wonderful things.
I have been amazed at how many other chicken crazed people are on this site and are very thankful for the wealth of knowledge they share daily. You never feel alone with all you out there!
Blessings,
