I want to raise ducks. How much space do I need to raise a flock of 10 and what do they require?

Hello,
I currently have a flock of 10 chickens. The feed store just started chicks last week and they have ducks! However, I have never raised ducks, only chickens. What do they require; space, feed, water, etc?

lots of space, they are MESSY! duck pellets are a must, chicken feed isn’t good enough. they need to be able to swim daily, and have deep enough water to dunk their entire heads 24/7

When it is winter, how should I keep the water from freezing and getting to cold for them?

You’ll need a lot of space for them. About ten years ago I had 12 ducklings, and I started them off inside a big tote. Once they got bigger I made them a fenced in area for them in my yard. They are really messy, but having them in the yard eliminated some of the mess.

Also, you’ll need to make sure that the food you get for them contains niacin. That is crucial for duckling development.
