I want to see your thrift haul🧐

What are you running on that thing? That's pretty awesome, I just gave a bunch of my old computer stuff to my nephew to mess with and he is having a blast.
Right now it's Windows XP Media Center 2005. It would've had 2004 originally. Sadly there was no recovery partition on it, so none of the special Sony stuff works, but it still works great.

I want to get it a GPU that'll play nicely with Linux and give it a bit more RAM, but those old GPUs are not cheap (ATI cards work best with Linux. NVIDIA usually stinks on Linux, especially ones that old).

I found this at a thrift shop, I didn't get it but it made me laughšŸ˜‚

Does anyone else thrift Christmas presents? I feel like it might not be very traditional but it'll become more common because things are tight for a lot of people.
I do for some people in my life. Unfortunately my sister is super bougie and got mad when i got her kids thrift stuff. I tend to try and make things most of the time, except legos I can't make them.

Any of you guys dumpster dive? I was thinking of starting a DD thread but might Just post it here if anyone is interested.
I don't but I'm really interested! I've always wanted to snoop around in the Sephora or bath and body works dumpsters but I have really bad social anxiety and IDK how I would handle asking to DD or how to deal with confrontation should an employee have issues with me DDing

I have never asked to do it I usually just do it. I have been doing it for years now and have only had two interactions with employees/security.

The first one a security guard told me to leave but then came over and said she was going to patrol the other side of the shopping center if I wanted to come back. She was really cool.

The 2nd time a store employee came out and told me to stop stealing from their dumpster. I kind of looked at here and was like "stealing from a dumpster?" and she said yeah. I said "uh ok you know how crazy that sounds right?" I just sort of left after that but have been back to that dumpster many times and no one else has ever said anything to me.

Most of the time people don't care and I have found some really cool stuff in them. I also get a lot of food that I give out and feed the chickens.

Yeah not keeping everything gets to be am issue if you are not careful. So this picture is from earlier in the year before it was so cold out but. Both the canopy and all three of the chairs you can see are from the dumpster. A bunch of the plants in the picture started out in a dumpster too before they were rescued and resuscitated. The picture below the one is the wooden bench in the dumpster before we grabbed it.
