I want to see your thrift haul🧐

Yeah not keeping everything gets to be am issue if you are not careful. So this picture is from earlier in the year before it was so cold out but. Both the canopy and all three of the chairs you can see are from the dumpster. A bunch of the plants in the picture started out in a dumpster too before they were rescued and resuscitated. The picture below the one is the wooden bench in the dumpster before we grabbed it.View attachment 4266869View attachment 4266870

Okay I'm convinced now. What tools should one bring? Boots, a stool and gloves?

Gloves are a must. I would make sure you do not go alone if you think you are going to get in the dumpster. A stool would be helpful but I usually just grab what I can get from the side of the dumpster. Depending what you are going for too. If there is a big lots near you they are good dumpsters to check.

I am four and a half feet tall so I will walk away with an armload of nothingšŸ˜„

Argh they recently shut down and now I'm kicking myself because I know that dumpster would've been a jackpot in their final months of chaos 😢

Computer organs
Pretty much. It was a lot of two laptops from Griftwill. One of them functions, and I just installed a hard drive and Windows 7 on it. The other is the one I bought the lot for, it turns on, but only if you put pressure on a certain spot, which implies it has some odd issue. I bought it to fix another similar laptop. It was cheaper than buying just the standalone laptop since there were two of them.

If any of you dumpster divers ever find a computer in there grab it. Even if it looks junked. Fair chance if you can get it to work someone might want to buy it or take it off your hand to fix it.
I have pulled 3 laptops out of the dumpster in the last year or so. Two of them are running one flavor or another of Linux and get used occasionally around the house. The third one I put mint on and gave to a kid that needed one at the school my buddy teaches at. I also got a TV and a monitor a few weeks ago.

If you go to apartment complexes around the end of the month you can often get loads of good stuff because people are moving out.
