I want to start quilting, tips?

If you are hand quilting you want a little give inside the hoop though, not too tight or you can't get the rocking motion quite right. I made that mistake when I did my first hand quilting. I also recommend eleanor burns, see what your local library has and see if there are any beginner classes around. Most will want you to machine piece though. Start with something simple like 6 inch squares in a one patch throw or lap quilt, nothing too big to start with or you may get overwhelmed. Use a good quality batting too, nothing too puffy unless you really want it puffy, that is. Good luck! There are a lot of good sites on the web where you can get free patterns but taking a class really helps.

I would be happy to GIVE you ALL the fabric and patterns you need to get started! Here, take a look:

there is a votec about 20-30 minutes from my house, they have all typs of classes. I was going to see what they have on sewing anyways, my friends and brothers are always asking me to fix this, or
patch that. and I have refitted a lot of dresses and tops for my self. so I thought it would be well worth it.
I did not think about wax, or washing & drying befor hand. you all ar so helpful!

I plan to downsize that fabric stash, at least to 1/2 the size. It is absolutely ridiculous. That will be my New Year's resolution!

Presently, my basement studio contains my quilting machine, books, magazines, patterns, DVDs, tapes, and other quilt literature. In one of the back rooms (bedroom) I have fabric. Another room of fabrics for drapes, curtains, formalwear, etc. Then, there is the closet full of fleece ... Oh yes, it is embarrassing.

I'm coming with you Coyote!!!!

You can make it your Christmas wish list

Come one down and you can go to MaryJo's. I was there yesterday so I know they have the Duke fleece. I just bought some Phil. Eagles fleece for an elder lady I know back home that recently broke her leg. She is a Philly Eagles and Phillies Super Fan!!
