I presently have my first chicks. CHICKS, mind you. 1 week in, I'm researching the best roo to get them next year.
"Oh, and in my separation pen, maybe I could raise some of the cockerel chicks for meat..."

My husband's first experience with chickens: some friends in a San Francisco suburb got some hatching eggs for a school project. They were gonna sell them once they were hatched... then once they were 6 weeks. Instead, they bought a farm in the country and got about a hundred more.
