Hi I'm a new bee with chickens. I'm expecting my new bearded silkie bantaman chicks around the first week in feb. I will be getting three and I might get one more. The chicks well be around two months old when they arrive. I have two partardige and one blue. I'm having to get them dna tested to ensure females because where i live i can NOT have roos. I'm so excited i feel like a expected mother! I'm trying to learn as much as i can before there arrival. I got several books and have been reading, reading, reading! I already have their coop although I'm making some adjustments to it. I will be adding a second laying box on the side and this Saturday I'll be making their run a lot larger. I made the mistake of buying a coop online and when it arrived I swear it was a miniture version of what I thought I ordered! So live and learn...now i have to make the coop more exceptable by adding on to it. I've got my brooder ready for my babes and I'm just waiting on there arrival. If any one had any advice for me id greatly appercieate it! I'm happy to be a part of this group! Nice to meet you all!

You'll find plenty good info on raising chicks here:

Have fun!

Enjoy your new birds when they arrive.
And don't worry too much about the coop; there are a lot of folks who've purchased those coops they see online or in magazines only to find they can only house 1 or 2 large birds comfortably. But they can still be used as a start to building something bigger!
Glad you joined us!!
