I was sold as a Cuckoo Maran.... am I?

I have been staring at pictures for an hour and a half.

The nearest I can figure is this:

As week old chicks,
the australorps have pink feet and are black and kinda yellowish white feathers. (quite a bit of yellow white)
the jersey giants have black feet with orange and no white spot on their head they look a lot like australorps except for their feet color, also a littles less of the yellow white feathers.
the cuckoo marans have a dot on their head of white but otherwise have black and yellow on their feet like jersey giants

I think I have a jersey giant!

Unless I have a hatchery BCM like the one above. What do hatchery BCM feet look like? I think they are all black right?

Sooo... Jersey giant?

I don't know what a cuckoo maran is supposed to look like as a chick, but yours looks alot like my austrolorp. Here's a pic of her @ 1 week old.

Hope this helps. You can see definate color on her legs. She turned into a beautiful pullet, w/ shiny irridescent feathers. Her feet are all black now.

Well I have a hen I got last year at chick days and she was a black sexlink but she has lots of gold "flakes" around her head and neck. Sorry I dk if that helps, but hatchery birds aren't show quality, so couldn't there be a few odd traits? Not trying to come off rude I love my chick days and mutt chickens

and my BC marans, the same age

and my Australorp

None of them have the gold on their head that yours seems to have. The black legs do look a lot like my BC, though.

I will try to post some more pics. tomorrow. I do want to tell you all first and foremost thanks! Also, there is NO gold on her head!! She has a black head. (Are you guys talking face like beak area, because there is some black orange there) I think you are all seeing her feathering out and b/c the pic. is fuzzy, it looks like gold. I don't see the mottling of the cuckoos. She would have that by 4 weeks right?

To flowerchicks, I have a question: How can you tell the 3 a part? The look REALLY similar!

Your chick could just be a simple Black Marans. A couple of hatchery sell them- notably Estes Hatchery in MO. Though the dark eye colour is more indicative of a Jersey Giant. They also have yellow on the palms of their feet, which Marans do not.
