A week's worth of hard work by the girls, all sold and leaving the house tomorrow... sniff.

At $5 a dozen I can't really afford to be sentimental but gosh, it's difficult!

Man, I would LOVE to get $5 a dozen.

I appreciate all the girls' hard work, but I was expecting to see chickies

Well, the chickies should hopefully be here next month if the incubation goes well... at least I have lots of eggs to put in the 'bator

It's crazy what city folk will pay for fresh, organic free-range eggs - I can't fulfill all my orders and have customers lined up and waiting!

DH said to me last night...

and I quote...

"Hunny we need more chickens"

Its all in location. I live in an area where many have backyard flocks as a hobby, so a farm fresh egg isn't that unusual. We can only get $1.50 a dozen.

Good for you! Good luck with your endeavors!

Thats $5 Canadian, as the poster is from Quebec. About $4 give or take US currency. Still an excellent price. I dont even bother selling eggs where I live. Everyone either has chickens already, or the market is saturated and theres no point. They go for $1.50 to $2/dozen here. Really not that much different in price than the grocery store's free range brown eggs. I work 12mi from my driveway, and pass no less than 8 signs advertizing fresh brown eggs for sale. Even in the Summer at the farmers market, there are always dozens and dozens of eggs for sale from all sorts of folks. Good for you! I wish I could get even $3/dozen.

Store-bought eggs in the gro. store here are selling for 1.49 / doz. I sell my eggs for 1.50. If i even jumped it up to 1.75 i might have trouble selling them.

Eggs here are quite expensive in general... almost $3 for plain battery-hen eggs!

They sometimes go on sale for less but there is no quality there...

Organic, free-range eggs are only available in select high-end grocery stores and go for almost $6 a dozen - even then, there is no guarantee of freshness... So when people see a chance to eat "real" eggs they are all over it and think they are actually getting a deal

DH brings eggs twice a week to his office and they are all sold way in advance, people rave about their quality and beg for more (their friends and family all want some...)

I can't keep up!

I just sold 3 doz for $3 a doz. If they bring me a carton I give them .50 off. Yesterday I had a squabble at the fence because two women wanted the only 18 pack I had, those go for $5,,, they wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise to explain I could give the other one a doz plus 6,,,,,,
