Yeah I’m still indecisive of ducks because I heard they smell bad bad, and cleaning their poo is like....3 chicken poos, but never experienced em yet

I have seen some broody chicken poop that you would think a dog had been in there! Poo clean-up is just a part of having birds. That is the reason some people should not have dogs, too! They walk their dogs in front of my house and think it is the free poop zone! Beautiful Dylan, my African Grey parrot in my avatar, can do some incredible pooping, too. She will not go in her cage at night, every morning I take her into the bathroom and hold her over the toilet to do her morning business. Lots less poop clean up on the house bird that way! Now, if only I could train the ducks . . .

And they smell bad...like really bad, even when they look super clean I made the mistake of picking up someone’s baby broiler....quickly regretted it, they were free ranged and still wreaked. But that’s IMO

Mine did not smell bad. In fact you could stand right outside their enclosure and not smell much of anything. I am not sure it makes any difference but I didn't free range mine. I had them in a large box stall that was not drafty but was well ventilated. I bedded them on shavings and I made sure the bedding was always dry. I didn't clean out the pen until after the chickens were gone, but I added shavings as necessary. For what it is worth I used a LOT of shavings.

My vet has 2 African Grey parrots in the waiting room. They each have their own cages with toys and food thrown all over! I love the story about the potty- trained parrot and I cant wait to tell the girls at the front desk.

African Greys are very smart. Dylan pretty much trains me. I could see that she was holding it all night, then pooping when I let her out in the morning. I just started to pick her up and take her in the bathroom as soon as I let her out. I held her until she pooped, saying, "Go poop", and when she pooped, I gave her her favorite seed. She rarely has an "accident" any more, but the first few tries, I kept a paper towel at the ready!

Idk, maybe his had sour crop, all he fed his chickens was cracked corn, and whatever they ate from the yard o.o
