I Wished My EE's were Ameraucanas!! PICS OF MINE

They are slightly slated. There is yellow but it's mottled with slate, but they're certainly not the darkly slated color of Mimi's. Maybe I'm just wishful thinking.

It's hard to say for sure, but they look like hybrids to me. The comb is not right on the cockerel. Leg color doesn't appear to be slate. The beard and muffs are not very distinct. The color (pattern) on the pullet is not the best.

Either way, they're close enough that you could probably work with them going towards the standard, especially if you were to cross in some good stock.

I can say from experience that you do not have a Brown Red, yours is an easter egger and I would wager that the rest are as well. They are pretty though. Keep in mind that plumage color is only one requirement to be a true Ameraucana. You have to consider skin, eye, ear lobe, shank and beak colors among others. These are all just as important as the plumage color. Keep doing your research and make friends with a breeder from the ABC. That really is the best way to get true Ameraucana stock.

Good Luck & enjoy your EE's they look very sweet.

I guess they're easter eggers after all, but still very pretty birds. We have 5 different breeds of chickens and the easter eggers are our favorites (the barred rocks are right up there too).
