Thankfully not the coop, just the run. I don’t keep any food in the coop for that reason.Awesome hope it does the trick. Have they ever gotten into the coop or just the run?

I’ve not had issues with bugs so can’t speak to that, but yeah it stops the mice too. I think I have been visited by both based on size discrepancies on the footage. And yeah it feels great to outthink a rat!!WowI am impressed!! Does it also keep out mice and bugs? Or is it just designed to keep our rats? Either way it's freaking cool and I'm so happy you defeated your nemesis.
Great question. Just mice, rats, squirrels (if you can set the springs heavy), and wild birds. Anything with less reach than a chicken and less weight than a chicken.WowI am impressed!! That rat knows where the feed is, just can't get to it! I'm still impressed they can climb that 1/8" wire link. Here’s a link to the video. I uploaded it to YouTube:
Ok I see the wire, I’ll fix that in the morning! Thank you! That rat knows where the feed is, just can't get to it! I'm still impressed they can climb that 1/8" wire link.
Oh, you need to bend the extra wire on the treadle link up. Make a U turn. You do not want it to bind so don't wrap it around or anything like that, just a 90 degree bend so it is safer for the hens. You could wrap it around the upper wire as long as it isn't binding and can rotate freely. If it binds, it flexes the wire, and the wire metal fatigues quickly.
Get a Gilly suit and a Ruger 10-22 with a thermal optic. Lay in the same spot with a good vantage point every night all night and just let them have it with some cci mini mags. Those that survive will get the picture real quick. We’ve been battling rats for a couple months, and I have to admit, they’ve earned my grudging respect. They have been clever, resourceful, and determined, systematically defeating each of our many attempts to foil them with a genius that belies their tiny size. However, I hate them all haha.
We have two separate coops and runs, and finally decided to just get the treadle feeder. We just got one to start with to see if it would work. We taught the girls to use it and now that they’ve got it figured out there is no more accessible feed outside at night, since I put the other feeder in our garage tonight.
Feeling an undeniable need to personally witness the conquest of my fiercest enemies, I set up a camera and have not been disappointed. Behold, my foes languishing in defeat, unable to access their once constant food source!!
Haha in all seriousness it’s just the first night, but yeah I’m not ashamed to admit I am proud to finally outsmart a rodent!
Now I just have to worry if they will instead eat my strawberries in my gardencan’t stand rats.
