I cross black copper Maran and standard Cornish? As for color, I don't care. I'm just wondering about meat quantity and quality.

Marans are very good meat more darker kind of meat. If I was doing dual purpose ir would be a marans

I love the darker meat.

I'm just curious, since Marans and Cornish are both so heavy and meaty, if I could actually get some decent meat chicks in the first generation of breeding. Of course it would probably have to be a Maran rooster over Cornish hens. I wonder if anyone else has tried this cross?

I haven't tried any of that. I had an extra Marans rooster that had bowed legs and I kept him for 24 weeks and he was mighty tastie. Faverolles also have darker meat and are very good, if you can get past them being a very good looking slow loving chicken, then you can eat them.
