She had too many!!!

Ok so I have actually read posts on here on where people have put decaying meat in a bucket to make flys so that their birds could eat the larvae..

I know that my flys would have had to have been larvae at one point but why didnt the birds get em..

I have sooooo many flys in my coop it is terrible.. what can I do?

After a rain shower yesterday (FINALLY!!) I went outside. There were, what seemed like, millions of flies swarming everywhere. I went out to check on the chickens and it was like the Keystone Cops in the coop. Chickens running everywhere, bumping into and tripping over each other. Chasing flies!! It was quite comical.

Hi I'm new here. Our 11 wk old Araucanas chase flies all over the yard. Yes, it is fun to watch them dart around, turn on a dime and in go in circles! The RIR aren't as interested in flies.

But the chicks go through phases. They seem to have attention deficit. For a while they went nuts over night crawlers, then grass was the hot thing, then japanese beetles, . . . . they lose interest rather fast. I have yet to see any interest in vegetable scraps!

I'm so glad this forum is available. I've already learned a lot from reading posts. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the forum, it is fantastic isn't it! Great bunch of folks on here.

I laughed when I read your comment about attention deficit.

It's a wonder the vet's aren't prescribing Ritalin for them ... I know they have Prozac for dogs now.
