I would like to introduce Buddy :)

I know they will bite. My tom started out nice, then he started strutting and soon after tried to bite anyone that went in the pin with him. He got sick and died, but I don't think I ever want another tom around. He is a pretty bird. Just keep an eye on him. Not everyone's turkey turns out aggressive. I would suggest not running from him. Stand your ground just as you would do with an aggressive rooster.

That's what I told my daughter. If you go to pet him he will turn and walk away. He was strutting all day today. He must be exhausted....... lol. He even went as far as to shake his goods! One turkey hen finds him to be very "hot" yet he keeps ignoring her. Frustrated her all day and she jumped in front of him, yelled "LOOK AT ME!" and shook at him. I just cracked up. He still turned and walked away from her. She must have done this 3 times throughout the day. Poor girl, she is going to get a complex. Buddy didn't go after anyone he just decided to show off. I couldn't believe how blue his face got and the red........ wow.

You know, I thought chickens were the coolest birds when I got them. Then I thought ducks were, Now, turkeys........ what can I say? Each are way cool in there own unique ways. I never would have known this if I didn't have any. What great lessons these birds give along with some major entertainment.

BTW, thank you very much for the compliments. I would enter him in the fair but I just feel keeping him caged up for a week is sort of cruel.

My turkey hen was the same

She liked the tom but he never tried to make his move with her, not even once. I never got my turkey chicks from them

I forgot how stunning a toms tail is when he struts. Thanks for sharing the pics!

My turkeys have never bit me. They strut alot and will walk at me and visitors, but never get agressive. None of mine have. Well, I did have one big Tom that would run after my son in law as soon as he got out of his truck. he was a smart bird...lol. I think they are very nosy. Always wanting to see what is going on. Not sure about the bumps.....I have had a coupl eturkeys lose the feathers on their chest rubbing the fence walking back and forth at each other. One of them lost all his chest feathers and his beard but they came back.

Do be careful though they can flog you if provoked...depending on teh individual bird I think.

I don't think Buddy will really bother anyone. I think you are right, he is nosy and wants to check out things. Only being here a week he is still afraid of stuff. Buddy does seem to like the "hard to get" girls....... haha. It's almost as if he is practicing. I don't know but I think it's pretty cool. It's amazing how they can control all those feathers and his tail like that.

They are beautiful! I have Narragansits now.....I had royal palms too but had to trim down my breeds.....1 Bronze Tom, 1 NG Tom and 4 NG hens.

They are beautiful too. I couldn't decide what breed I wanted. I thought Royal Palms at first. Then slowly I looked at other breeds and then I was stumped..... lol. I figured when it happens it will happen. Well, it did and that's how I ended up with the Bronze breed. I just love them.

Buddy is vocalizing this morning with a gobble..... lol. Yep, still strutting his stuff. Makes me wonder if I should get him a mirror...... lmao! He is still frustrating that turkey hen.... hahaha.

I love the picture you took of him strutting, his foot outstretched like a model
