Here is a rough list of ingredients not ratined out

Complete Feed
Ground Oats
Wheat Meal
Corn Meal
Soybean Meal

Scratch
Cracked Corn
Sunflower Seed
Various other seeds

Making you own feed is complicated and you need it to be really complete. It is best if you use a recipe unless you are really good with math and nutrition. If you google "homemade chicken feed" you can find links to all kinds of information. The Greener Pastures Farm recipe is a classic one. Please bear in mind--if you are not making tons of feed, it will be MUCH more expensive than buying a layer ration, so don't go into it to save money if your flock is small.

It can't be read online, I've checked, but you might try to get your hands on this month's issue of Mother Earth News. There's an excellent article on growing your own chicken feed.
 
We were going to go that route as well but found it cheaper for go straight to the feed mill Now the more I buy the less it costs I paid .12 cents a pound for 17 % layer this last time Google feed mills in your area and you might find one close by. I will always be grateful to Chickenzoo here in florida as she gave me the name of the feed mill I am using now.
