I have enjoyed my chickens for 3 years now, and never had one go broody. I have RIR's , white rocks, ee's, and a buff orphington. They were all bought from the feed store and I think I remember someone saying that hatcheries breed out the broodiness. Is that true?

Get yourself a silkie hen and I promise, she will go broody for you every 2 months or so... LOL... They are wonderful mothers. Of the nearly 3 dozen chickens we have, I have 3 broodies: a silkie, an orpington, and a black sex link something... LOL... I could have chicks at least 3 times a year if we had the room for them.... -- Irene in Texas

Good morning, don't silkies need special waterers? Not that it would be a problem, I just don't know alot about them.

My game hens always go broody every year. I have 4 that are broody now
