IBW 4 jeaucamom..UPDATE.... A CHICK..pics added!!!

Mom is on her way to the store to buy a sponge. LOL. Ya cyn, we cracked the suede/caroline egg and it had just barely begun to develope and then quit. It had also wept more since the last we spoke so it was a definate goner. But the rest of the eggs are developing beautifully except for 1 ameraucana that is a little smaller than the others. So yay!!

(PS all, mom is frantic. LOL. We are all like, dont make any sudden sound or movement, you might set her off again! )

HaHaHa very funny....

I did put a hot wet sponge in. The temp dipped to 99.5 and took less than 3 minutes to get back up to 100.8. Humidity is now up to 64-65%. I am pretty sure it is accurate because it had been reading higher earlier. Anyway I am feeling better about the humidity now, but what will many hours of lower humidity do??

It will be fine, Suz. The most important time for higher humidity is right about the time they're hatching so the membranes dont dry out. Dang, I'm sorry I only had that one Caroline egg, Jess, but at least you have the others.

could you use a flex straw and stick one in each hole and bend like a stove pipe or snorkel and seal the edges with tape to stop the leaking ?
be sure not to cover the straw opening completely inside the bator so air can still pass.

We have just come to the conclusion that we will probably have NO chicks. The bator has been freaking out, and on top of it all of our acurites are acufrikinwrong. So in conclusion we knocked the humidity too high, and I mean WAY too high, and temps keep dropping and spiking. The one little tiny not-even-complete pip we did have has done nothing for 24 hours, and the ones that were rocking have now stopped.
