Hello friends,

This is Ice. He is part of my Crested Ophir Bantam breed creation program. He has the funkiest coolest comb... a wickel comb ending in a forked cup. Essentially terminating in a v shape. Ziggy, his Dad, has a traditional wickel comb (aka S shaped comb) ending in a single blade..

So I have a choice to make here.. do I stick to the standard wickel as my sop, or do I go with Ice's brand new invention???? hahaha.. I think it's cool..

What do you think?

Traditional wickel or Ice's invention?

I would love to hear your thoughts🤔🙃

Hi,

as the funky wickel comb mix will probably appear in a variety of different forms, I`d stick to the standard wickel comb for your goal.

Or create two different lines: one standard wickel comb and the other the funky wickel plus v shape and see how it turns out in the long run.
Sounds like a good plan, why didn't I think of that? Thanks for your feedback 🙂

Looks similar to a kings comb like my black penedesncas had.
Ya it reminds me a bit of a kings comb or coronation comb.. and I have some confusion over coronation vs side sprigs. This doesn't look like side sprigs as the comb splits kinda v like.. whereas side sprigs sprout off a blade and don't look cool imho. Love your chooks comb. I understand that it's a rare comb and that only 2 breeds are 'allowed' these combs. I'm torn over it being something that could make my developing breed stand out and define it vs something many chooks are disqualified over in a show situation

Thanks for your feedback 😊
