i have a big Q for everyone why do icelandic chickens have a crest on there head??????????

Because it is encoded in their genes to do so (Short answer). Many breeds have crests, many are the result of a vaulted skull if I recall correctly, though there are actual genes that make for crests/tassels on some breeds without having a vaulted skull. If that is the question you were going for.

When in time they got them? If you mean when it develops, I would think there may be small crests at hatch, and that would only grow over time. When they got them in terms of history, no clue on that being a landrace. You might ask on the Icelandic thread, many of them should know and be able to answer any questions regarding Icelandic's you may have.
