I drink it unsweetened. I put 2 cups water into the microwave, zap til boiling, take it out and put 4-6 teabags in it. After the tea is brewed I remove the bags & pour over ice, adding ice as needed until it's perfect. I don't use lemon, though....
I fill a gallon jug with water and put 9 tea bags in it. I let it sit out in the sun until it's nice and dark, it takes a few hours. Then I sweeten it with 3/4 to 1 cup sugar or sugar substitute. Add a squeeze of lemon juice to each glass if desired.
Most of the iced teas you buy in the store are made using the powdered teas. You can buy the powder in a jar.
I take 2 Lipton family size tea bags, microwave for 5 minutes, let sit 5 minutes. Then I pour it over 2/3 cup sugar in a pitcher mix well and add about a gallon of cold water. I don't like it syrupy like some Southerners...add sugar to taste. you have to experiment with the strength of the tea and the ammount of sugar till you get it how YOU like it. I have never seen any two Southerners who make sweet tea the same way....EVER...LOL!
Here is how I make iced tea... I'm a southerner (transplant really).
boil 2-3 cups of water in your teapot. Add teabags (I like Tetley) & Steep about 5 minutes. 5 small teabags or 2 large teabags for 2 quarts of tea. Double that for a gallon sized pitcher. Fill your pitcher about 2/3 full of water. Then pour in the brewed tea. Stir if you think it needs it.
We sweeten our tea in the glass. If you like it with lemon, squeeze a bit into your glass before you pour in the tea.
He likes it sweet, and he swears he can tell if it sun tea.
I don't have a microwave.
And I would like to make a gallon at a time. He goes thru the Arizona stuff like nothing.
The Arizona stuff is pretty sweet. You could probably get away w/ adding 1 cup of sugar per gallon of tea. But experiment with it of course.... It could be his big taste testing project for the weekend.
I make mine in the coffee pot. (we don't drink coffee) I put in 3 family bags of Luzianne where the coffee goes, brew it up. Put a cup of sugar in a gallon pitcher, pour the still warm tea over it, stir well to mix up the sugar, fill the rest of the pitcher with cool water! I have to keep 2 gallons on hand because we go through it so fast!
i don't make tea that often. But my aunt and sister both make amazing sweet tea. they use a teaspoon of baking soda when boiling the bags. don't know what it does but it is some good tea.
I just put 8 regular tea bags or equivalent into the coffee pot. inside the pot not in the top! run water like normal. Let coffee pot sit atleast 2 hours. Pour into a gallon pitcher. add just a cup of sugar. I dont like it real sweet! I like it sweet just not syrup. Fill the rest with water. stir and pour over ice. I hate lemon in my tea. But if you like it, add to taste. ENJOY!
God Bless!
P.s. BE SURE to REMOVE any coffee grounds First!!!! LOL it don't taste good!!!!
