Icelandic Hatch

My next Icelandic hatch has started! I wont have as many in this one, I would be very happy with just a couple. This baby will be black or some variety of blue. I will take pics after the hatch is done and take pics of the older chicks.

Three babies out!! One has a bit of a swollen abdomen but is still very lively. I have incubated for years and have seen this before, probably from the yolk not absorbing completely. I only worry if the baby is more lethargic than the usual tiredness after hatching. They are all black-variety of blue though I am sure one is a blue spash. ( I have several of these in the previous hatch. ) I havent taken them out of the incubator just yet as there still might be eggs hatching but I will take pics once they are out.

Oh and I will update pics of the older chicks too. So far altogether, 20 baby Icelandics. And I have 4 hens.

I will be moving the three babies into a brooder this evening or in the morning. I am setting up a separate one for these tinies as I think putting them in right now with my rough and tumble gang of 17 older chicks is a poor idea lol. I doubt anything else will hatch between now and then. Not because of the incubator, only because I have collected eggs up to a montb after my roos death so fertility is likely decreasing. I love the Incuview Incubator I am using.

Good idea to put them in their own place until they're bigger. Sure wouldn't want anything happening to the little guys!

Aaaaand another baby hatched!! I THINK we are done now but I will check eggs when I move babies into the brooder.

Ugh. Lost that last baby. I just put the other three in their brooder. I WILL take pics, its been a long morning but I will get to it today lol. ( just recovering from flu-sinustitus-mono so the least things wipe me out for a minute!! )
