Hi Everyone,

I care take some free range Icelandics that are originally from David Grote farm and my landlord wants to rehome them. These are his prices:

Hens $40
dominant Rooster $40
other roosters $25
pullets $25

Some of the hens are older and do not lay but he thinks they have "environmental wisdom" and should be same price as egg layers.

I'm new to this and am curious as to what you think about these prices.
Also any experience shipping adult chickens out of state?

Thanks, WhereisTina

"Environmental wisdom" is what make me smell something fishy. Prices sound reasonable at least for the area where I leave, for young and healthy birds. Look for advice from people, who raise Icelandics.

Usually younger birds are worth more.
Shipping older birds is very expensive and they'd need to be vet checked and be NPIP to go across state lines.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
