I'm not sure about the first two chicks that we hatched out of ten eggs we got. These yellow chicks are the favorites of my two daughters, so you can see what Im hoping to hear. However these combs are not looking like things will go my way. The last brown one appears to be a pullet to me.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you cluckcluckgirl and Free Feather. I have read the EE forum titled something like "ways to tell before they crow" somewhere on BYC.I was soooo hoping that chic two's brown spots were a pattern. I also saw someone who had small brown spots on their pullet, but hers/his get bigger every day.

I think they'll be very beautiful also. Unfortunately per town ordinance we can't keep Roosters. Ugh!

X2 on the others posters guesses. I'm not 100% sure on the first one, though I'm leaning toward cockerel. I had one this year that was almost identical (had the red comb and everything) and it turned out to be a pullet, so you may want to give that first one a little more time, it could be a pullet after all.

Thank you Mymillefleur. Did you post a pic in this thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/463817/easter-egger-sexing-tips-and-tricks-pictures-included ? I remember seeing a posting where someone's EE had similar coloring, pinked up early and was a girl. Please post a pic I would love to see her. Unfortunately I just saw the two chicks in question mock fighting. Their necks fluffed up and they both brought up their feet. I remember watching my pullets last year as they fought to determine who was the boss. I don't think any of my girls brought their feet up. But boy did they fluff those neck feathers. I remember that I was quite concerned that my light Braham who turned out to be a pullet in the end was a late blooming cockeral because of this fighting. But like I said I don't think that they brought up their feet. Is bringing up the feet to fight a trait specific to cockerels or do some pullets do this also? I would really like to know as the sooner, I start to find homes for the roosters the better. Right now out of the ten eggs that I hatched, it looks like I have 5 roosters if I include these two.
