Two of my 12 buckeye hens have bare spots in the saddle area, and one has a bare spot on her neck. The roos are long gone. I have spent hours watching them in the run (24'X24') and haven't caught anyone in the act. So how can I determine who the offender is? I don't really want to trim every beak or try to put peepers on all of them. They are finishing their moult and have recovered from the rooster damage but now loosing to other hens.
Thanks, mrkep

Are you sure the missing feathers aren't still from the molt period? I rarely see my girls pick at each other when they are in the pen or free ranging. I have have seen them do so when they are settling in on the roost at night.....peck, peck..."Hey, that's my spot move over!" Try hanging out in the coop at night, maybe one of yours is a really bully.....just my thinking.
