I'd love your thoughts on this

We are expecting, so I've been nesting. I have 5 hen chicks on the way.

Here are a few pictures of the coop I am working on. I cleared out and cleaned a 10x10 shed that was packed to the gills with junk, added windows, and made some improvements. I have built a raised, insulated coop with roost (just over 10" per bird) and 2 nesting boxes that has (or will have) a pull out hardwire floor over pull out litter pans. This attaches to a 4x6 indoor run. This also has pull out trays for cleaning, but the girls will have a nice deep layer of litter to stomp in (no hardwire). I have a door built to the future outdoor run, but I haven't gotten to that yet. I am just making this up as I go along. I would love any comments or thoughts you more experienced chicken folks have. I rather fix things now and avoid a problem later, but be nice... I've worked my booty off so far

Thanks for the positive feedback. I think I needed that.

The 10x10 shed has two ventalation windows and screened vents along the top of the two side walls. The inner coop has a small vent on the right and the door to the indoor run on the left. I can add in the front if needed, but I thought I'd wait and see if they start fogging up the windows

This area will get cleaned often. Should I add more?

I don't know too awfully much about these things but I would think it depends on where you live, what the weather is like in the summer, how many chickens will be 'residing' in there, etc.

looks great.. how about some electricity? we use ours for heating a waterer and for new babies in the coop. even have a porch light and inside lights to see whats going on.. we also have a small closet for cleaning supplies and feed and litter storage.. just some ideas.. gl

I do have electricity. That was my major reason for tackling the nasty old shed. It had power. running water out in the winter would be a full time job.
