Ideal Dozen Again

You might own baby chicks if you find yourself outside before 7am wearing a nightgown and muck boots to check on them.

BTW, they were perfectly fine -- tucked under their plate and blinking sleepily at a grey and, by the standards of NC in late May, chilly morning.

Later on they came out and started eating and exploring.

Why wont you have chicks this year?
We'll be gone for a while, and it would have been right around integration time, if I'd gotten them this spring. DH thinks we have enough chickens (HA, as if!), so I agreed to wait until next spring.

He's discovered how cool it is to give people a dozen eggs, though. I already said once that, "If we had more chickens, we could give (insert name here) a dozen eggs this week and still have enough for our weekend breakfasts, and baking, and..."

I'm thinking maaaaybe late summer... but definitely next spring.

(not really 'me' but you get the drift)

No seriously, it's been raining for 3 days. and the 3rd night I am leaving the light on in the 'coop'
Although currently it is not raining. We are supposed to get one sunny day before the next round of rain moves in!
That is how it has been here to yesterday we had thunderstorms.:(

We haven't had rain since 6 a.m this morning hopefully no more. There is a graduation party that we are holding.

I had strong storms earlier. A little watery sunshine breaking through.

Babies are safe and well inside their brooder. It's sitting on a high spot so water never runs in.
