I also have an RIR from Ideal via the feedstore. No problems at all-healthy and rambunctious little guy!

The tag is probably for sexing- it's by customer request only, so maybe it was what someone else said above, a customers order that didnt get picked up?

A couple of weeks back, I sent an email off to Ideal and asked them about the wing tags. They responded right away, but I couldn't find this thread

so I never posted their answer:
"They are only receiving chicks that have been wing banded if they or the person that they bought them from ordered them that way. We do not wing band them unless the customer request it."

The 11 different breed chicks (all pullets) I ordered arrived safe and sound on Friday. There were 9 (!!

!!) extras packed for warmth and the invoice says "Males included for warmth"

Anyway, just have to say I had a good experience with this hatchery which I chose to order from because I could get less that 20

Anybody want some pre-roos?

I have an order with Ideal. I have ordered from them before. My question is do you usually get them on the date you request? Last year they would email the date they would be shipped. But this year my invoice just has my requested date. I ordered them on wednesday and thought I would get another email saying when they would ship them.

I was told I would receive them on the 13th, and they were there on the 13th, alive and chirping!

I placed an order with Ideal almost two weeks ago. They said we should get them on the 31st or 1st of June. They called today to let us know that they would be sending the chicks out on the 30th. I was impressed that they did a follow up call to let us know again what day they would be sending them out. I have already notified the local post office so now I guess we wait.....

I just put in an order with Ideal and I have some questions. Do you think I'll get a bunch of extra males, because my order is small, 4 ducklings and 12 chicks?? It's getting warmer, so I might luck out. What are the males usually, if they include them? And I wasn't paying attention and the "desired delivery date" says today, which obviously isn't going to happen, they'll contact me to tell me what day they'll really be delivered, right?
Sorry, for all the questions, this is my first time ordering from them. I usually go through MM but I didn't want so many chicks and I don't think you can mix in ducks, either.

Okay. So I answered one of my questions. I was sent an e-mail stating they will be in on the 5/30, fingers crossed...
Still don't know if I'll get any filler chicks yet. Hopefully not because boys are hard to get rid of.

Several of the chicks I've bought at the feed store have been from Ideal, and they have all been great so I'm expecting good things!

Like Angie, I'm also wondering how many and what kind of males could be included. I ordered a few banties and ducklings -do you think they would include standard males?

I'm just a big ball of anxiety and expectation!

Well, when I ordered my 10 old english bantams they encluded 6 barred rock males.
