Hi I was planning on ordering some ducklings from ideal poultry but considering I have never ordered a chick/duckling online in my life I had some questions.

How good is this hatchery in things like.

Are they good at giving the desired breed?
Are they good at giving the desired sex?
Will thet mark the sexs to tell which is which?
Do they put extras in just in case of death?

and I was looking at their site and I cant find where i can estimate shipping costs. Does anyone know how much it should be to fl 33852 for around 14 ducklings?

Sorry for all the questions im new to this!

My experiences was great, i ordered from them twice.. and received the exact sexes and breeds i wanted.. Any that died they replaced... Good costumer service. As for telling the breeds though... Nope, but i found out myself soon.

The breeds i ordered were Fayoumis, black langshans, and Junglefowl. Also ordered some OEGB's as well but a cat ate all 15 in one night...

That was years ago though, about 6 to be exact.. Don't own any of them now.

Ideal is a very popular hatchery. I have always had a very good experience with them. If it "straight run" that means that you will get males and females and it will be about 60% male. If it says "pullet" then those are female and you will get 90-95% female. If it says "male" then of course those are boys. No hatchery can give you a 100% guarantee that they will be all female or all male. If you order male and female they will only mark them if you request it otherwise they will be mixed. All of my orders from them had a few extras (packing peanuts) in there to insure warmth and live delivery. As for shipping cost it will calculate it when you place an order online and that order will not go through until you read the entire order and grand total and confirm it. If you call them to place your order then they will tell you on the phone.

I have been pleased with the shipping of their chicks. I ordered 24 silverlaced wyandottes and 12 columbian wyandotte bantams. All arrived safe and in good condition, i have not lost 1 chick yet and they are 2 months old. The only problem is with my columbian wyandotte bantams,Out of the 12, 9 have white legs. Wyandottes, standards or bantams should have yellow legs. I have raised wyandottes for several years and never have had even 1 chick to hatch with white legs.

i love ideal - they did GREAT! call them up and ask them these Q's - they are very helpful and friendly

:)

ps i cant remember what my shipping was... but it was really reasonable

I have always been pleased with my Ideal orders. One shipment took longer to get here and it was cold at the time. We lost most but they have great customer service and took care of it right away. The other orders arrived in good shape and were healthy birds.
